Peacock Blue: Old Meets New

Peacock Blue: Old Meets New Chairs would be the most frequently updated thing in the design world. Whether an old chair frame is in great shape, then it can easily be repainted, reupholstered and loved like new. Designer Brian Patrick Flynn updates a traditional dining seat with peacock-blue paint, fresh fabric and decorative casters. The bold paint color adds a contemporary look to the traditional frame, creating a one-of-a-kind desk chair for this house office.

Bright Chartreuse: Spiced-Up Bookshelves Make a bold and vibrant influence on a bookshelf through more than simply your publication arrangement. Here, designer Tobi Fairley paints the backs of this built-in a citrusy chartreuse hue. To guarantee the colour stands out, each book is outfitted in a white book cover beside all-white accessories. The green background is currently a can't-miss part of the living space.

Grape Royale Bittersweet: Chevron-Patterned Dresser Attempting to figure out what to do with that faulty thrift-store dresser? Give it just what it needs: a painted exterior in a variety of luscious autumn hues. Here designer Brian Patrick Flynn uses painter's tape to create trendy chevrons on the drawer fronts and then utilizes complementing shades of purple and fuchsia to paint the patterns.

Quarry, Faded Rose Spanish Villa: Striped Stairs Forget carpeted stair runners; following is a distinctive and semi-permanent way to add flair to a staircase. In this diverse living space, designers Cortney and Bob Novogratz paint white staircase with thick vertical stripes in alternating shades of blue and pink. (Careful application of painter's tape can help to perfect the lining.) To get a less striking option, try numbering your staircase with stencils and painting on every number.

Programmer: Sweet Accents How would you utilize a dusty old fruit crate? If you're designing blogger Erin Loechner you'll upcycle it to some stylish toy chest, of course. Gifted for her friends, this cage formerly held winter accessories at the entryway but had a larger purpose. She transforms the crate into a cell toy chest by attaching casters. To add a contemporary twist to the rustic crate, she spray-paints the casters a stylish and feminine blossom hue to coordinate with her daughter's nursery design scheme.

Kelly Green: Kitchen Glam Give a timeless kitchen a colorful, one-of-a-kind twist. In this conventional area, designer Andrea Schumacher brightens all-white cabinetry with a cheerful Kelly-green island. The painted island seems especially stunning when paired with all the blue floral background. Feeling bold? Why don't you paint all of your cabinets a vibrant hue? Your kitchen may love all of the attention it receives in return.

Silver Gray: Eye-Catching Door Trim Most men and women consider their interior doors and trim off-limits in regards to painting. Designer Brian Patrick Flynn eases this doorway of its own drab white trim by adding a coat of silver gray paint. For a little curiosity, he adds trim detail into the front of the doorway and paints it silver grey, too. The modern upgrade is a refreshing addition to the hall plus a welcoming invitation into each room.

Intelligent Violet: Revive the Patio As summer transitions into autumn and winter, you can feel inclined to keep your outdoor space living and energized, particularly with color. Among the most effective ways to do this is through outside accessories and furniture. Vibrant Yellow: Element of Surprise Insert an unexpected splash of colour to the interior of your dressing table, dresser or nightstand drawers by painting them a bold color, like this color of vivid yellow. The yellow, although not often seen, spices up the all-white vanity and the entire black-and-white bathroom layout. Pureed Pumpkin: Stylish Entryway A cottage- or - farmhouse-style home does not need to be completely coated in neutral tones and rustic materials. Designer Sarah Richardson proves a splash of color makes a big impact at a subdued room by painting the fronts of these closet doors a magical and faded shade of red-orange.

Titanium: Customized Shelving We love budget-friendly buys, but we adore inexpensive buys with a luxury look even more. Vibrant Yellow: Modern Mailbox Update Add immediate curb appeal with a quick and easy mailbox upgrade for less than $20. Following her home's modern design scheme, designing blogger Erin Loechner uses a stark-white mailbox along with a galvanized conduit for the post. To match her front door, she spray-paints the conventional red flag a vibrant yellow and finishes it off with mid sized house number decals. The update is simple, but is guaranteed to turn heads.

Rhapsody: Geometric Focal Wall So, this project may technically involve painting the walls, but we had to add it anyway. By adding a vibrant paint color like Rhapsody and utilizing cut strips of molding, you can immediately turn a bare wall into a contemporary focal point. Design by Brian Patrick Flynn

Raspberry: Bold Bed Length Insert vibrancy to your bedroom at an unexpected way by not painting a headboard but the entire bed frame. Cloud Dancer: Dip-Dyed Stool You have probably noticed dip-dyed decoration, hair and fashion nearly everywhere this year, and it is not going anywhere anytime soon. If you are "dyeing" to incorporate this bold and fashionable look into your house but want to start small, we have the great budget-friendly project to check the waters. Layout blogger Erin Loechner transforms a wooden $5 stool with painter's tape and spray paint. It might not technically be dip-dyed, but it provides the same classic color-blocked look.

Quarry Stonewash: Coloring the Floors Flooring are often forgotten as a place to experiment with a paintbrush. Designer Sarah Richardson does not allow those knotty pine hardwood flooring stay bare for long, however. Adding to the house's nautical cottage look, Sarah paints thick, alternating stripes of blue along the flooring. A layer of flooring sealant creates a flawless, glossy style for additional appeal.

Spiced Coral: Custom Study Just like any other piece of furniture -- a dresser, bookshelf, headboard or nightstand -- a secondhand desk could be given the exact same custom upgrade. All you have to do is look past the scratches and exterior imperfections, since many can be fixed and covered with a couple of coats of paint. Here, designer Brian Patrick Flynn adds custom storage on a budget by selecting up a desk out of the flea market and spray-painting it by spiced coral lacquer for a stylish and contemporary look.

Faded Rose: Refreshing Nursery Style Give a hand-me-down crib a fresh appearance by upgrading it with a fresh coat of paint. To bring an element of vibrancy for this nursery, designer Sarah Richardson spray-paints a conventional wooden crib a female hue of faded rose. Now sparked with modern appeal, the crib is instantly tied into the coral, yellow and pink color palette of the room.

Blue Indigo: Complex Workstation Allow your built-ins to blend effortlessly into the walls by painting them the exact same colour as the walls and trim. In this master bedroom, designer Brian Patrick Flynn uses easy floating shelves to make a sophisticated and cozy workstation niche. Coordinating with the room's rich colour scheme, Brian paints the shelves a profound blue-indigo.

Fiery Red: Immediate Curb Appeal A freshly painted front door isn't only a warm welcoming for guests, but it is also a simple way to add immediate curb appeal to your house. Fiery Red is a hot color this year, so we adore the eye-catching entrance of the modern home. Having a neutral exterior emphasized in black, red is a simple color to match but can easily be altered when it becomes tiring. Photo courtesy of Janet Loughrey

Tangerine Tango: Like-New Lamps Never let the color of a lamp deter you from carrying it home. Decorative painter Kristen Fountain Davis discovered this pair of ginger jar lamps for $6 in a thrift store and knew that she could easily upgrade them with her treasured decorative colors, blue and orange. A couple of coats of tangerine spray paint provides these once-outdated pieces fresh lives. Photo courtesy of Brian Patrick Flynn

Honey Gold: Vintage-Style Accessories These classic gold bottles probably have a rich background, but you can easily mimic the appearance by spray-painting or gold-leafing Mason jars and medication bottles. The collection will instantly add an eclectic and globally inspired look to your area. Layout by Erinn Valencich
